The design concept for the Shannon uses dramatically elegant interiors within the framework of a classically traditional facade. Dominated by volume space, the open floor plan of the main level devotes the greatest amount of square footage to the common living areas—living room, dining room, family room and kitchen. Nine-foot ceilings are standard, yet the soaring spaces make that height seem cozy. A turned staircase, as architectural as it is functional, divides the living room/dining room from the family room/kitchen. Optional angled bays add architectural interest to both areas, as do the second-story-level windows. A working island divides kitchen and family room. A first-floor guest room/den and full bath are tucked away and private. The owners’ suite upstairs maintains the dramatic design theme with an optional cathedral ceiling; two additional bedrooms, plus a hall bath, complete the second floor. The option of adding a sunroom off the kitchen expands the living space of this 2-car-garage home.
